Summer Vaction For Your Instrument
If you are in DCI this summer don't forget about your other horn. Remember to pull and grease all slides and oil any valves or rotors before you put in the case. This will allow you to make it through band camp in August with out a the repair shop. Check out the summer cleaning special at HTM.

Keep your instrument safe
At Howard Bishop Middle School, the band director has all of her students use a string to measure the case. Why? It's to get a chain to put around the case. Keeping it under lock and key helps secure the instrument while it's stored during the school day.
We all would like to think that the schools are secure, but things do happen. Either it be theft or a practical joke.
Just remember not leave the instrument somewhere where it can be stolen.

Stuck Mouthpiece
If you have a stuck mouthpiece please do not try and pull it out yourself. Use a mouthpiece puller. Most music stores will do this for free. At Hoggtowne Music we always offer this for free. Today I had to charge another customer almost $100.00 to repair the damage that his farther did to his trumpet trying to remove the stuck mouthpiece.

If you have a problem with your valves. Please try another oil. I have found that if you clean the old oil out with hot soapy water and a valve brush. You can switch to another oil. Some oils will leave a build up on your valve casing that can cause your valves to stick once the become warm and moist from playing. I like the new Yamaha synthetic for new horns and the Hetman for older valves. Both come in different weights. Check us out at www.hoggtownemusic.com
